DVD review: Omega Cop (1990)

In the not-to-distant future, the world has been overrun with criminals, who now hold the power over the well-intentioned authority figures. Only a small handful of people are willing to stand up and fight for justice. This small band of police officers is led by John Travis (Ron Marchini), the Omega Cop. With his small band of officers dying all around him, Travis  must become a one-man army and take on scores of criminals on his own. This sounds like an impossible task, but Travis resourcefulness is unmatched, and he begins  knocking the criminals off one-by-one. Omega Cop is written by Denny Grayson, Salli McQuaid, Joe Meyer and Paul Kyriazi who also is the director. The acting is pretty bad, Adam West and Stuart Whitman have small roles in this. The camerawork and editing is pretty good. The soundtrack is pretty decent. The pace is decent even if there are some noticeable attempts of padding out the running time. It´s quite obvious that this was made on a very low budget. There are several prolonged chase-scenes where Travis goes running after some thug/thugs, there are several fightscenes and a couple of shootouts. The fightscenes, where Ron Mancini gets to show off his martial arts skills, are pretty good. The shootouts are decent. There´s no gore in this, there are some squibs but that´s it. There´s no T & A in this, which is kinda disappointing as there are a couple of attractive actresses in this, Meg Thayer, Jennifer Jostyn and Chrysti Jimenez comes to mind.

Rating: 1 out of 7. Can´t really recommend this to anyone but to die hard fans of the Post-apocalyptic genre and B-movies. I´ve watched it now but it´s doubtful that I´ll ever rewatch it.
