Review: A Cadaver Christmas (2011)

First I´d like to thank Level 33 entertainment for providing me with a screener.
This soon-to-be Christmas classic is a delightful blend of holiday gore and zombie cheer, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face when you’re not turning away in disgust- just like holidays with the family. A cross between “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Night of the Living Dead” – “A Cadaver Christmas” tells the story of an unlikely band of heroes given the task of saving the world from an army of living corpses that are quickly recruiting new members. The dead have been given the gift of life this Christmas, and it’s up to the janitor to take it back! A Cadaver Christmas is written by Daniel Rairdin-Hale, Hanlon Smith-Dorsey and Joe Zerull who also is the director. The acting is good (the flick features a nice set of characters), it´s nicely shot and edited and some effort has been made to make the movie look older. It has a nice pace. Mixing horror with comedy is always a dangerous thing to do and difficult to pull off but A Cadaver Christmas is one of those rare flicks that does it successfully, there is plenty of slapstick comedy and absurd situations intermingled with gore. Its gory, a mix of practical and computer rendered fx that looks good. There is some topless female nudity and and a scene of necrophilia.
DVD & VOD Release Date: October 9, 2012

Rating: 7 out of 7. I enjoyed this, it´s a lot of fun to watch and I actually found myself laughing out loud during several scenes. I´m sure that this will please most genre fans

  1. Cadaver Christmas could have been a lot funnier. But the characters are too hard to pin down. They keep changing personalities -- becoming weak where they were strong before. The cop/non cop is a good example. He forces them all to go to the University but why? He's not a cop and has nothing to gain. And he ran over his dog and lost his job? The most inconsistent is the Janitor who, after protesting that they shouldn't go back to the school, shouldn't face the cadavers without more weapons, and should call for backup goes against all those beliefs by deciding that he should make a stand and defeat the cadavers without help (and not just leave the campus). It makes no sense. There's no preparation for that.
